Flag Hejaz 1921-25 and Palestine (state) (2 by 3)

Description

Flag of Hejaz from 1921-1925 in what appears from research of the history of the Hashemite kingdoms' flags to be an unofficial 2 by 3 size.

The meaning of the colours as used as the flag of Hejaz were colours representing the dynasties of historic Caliphates as well as the ruling Hashemite dynasty of Hejaz: black for the Abbasid dynasty, white for the Umayyad dynasty, green for the Fatimid dynasty, and the red triangle for the Hashemite dynasty.

This is also an unofficial 2 by 3 size flag of the State of Palestine. This flag in this 2 by 3 size has been used by the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party in Syria since it rose to power that adopted a 2 by 3 size flag that was designed in Egypt that had used a 2 by 3 size flag immediately prior to Egypt and Syria both adopting a horizontal tricolour red-white-black stripes with two green stars in the centre stripe as the flag of the United Arab Republic in 1958 that dissolved due to disagreements by Syria but that Arab nationalists sought to ressurect including the Ba'athists. Unlike Egypt Syria immediately prior to adopting that flag had a 1 by 2 size flag. Due to this the flag of the Ba'ath Party has used a 2 by 3 size version of the flag of Hejaz of 1921-25 and it is possible that prior to the creation of the Ba'athist regime in Syria that the Ba'ath Party used what appears to be the standard 1 by 2 version of the flag used from 1921-25.

The original flag of Hejaz adopted in 1916 had three horizontal black-green-white stripes and a red triangle and that pattern remained for Hejaz and briefly the Hashemite kingdom of Syria in 1920 that added a white seven-pointed star to distinguish its flag from the flag of Hejaz. Prior to 1921, from 1920 onward the Hashemite kingdoms established in the aftermath of the Arab Revolt during World War I encouraging Arab nationalism in the Fertile Crescent against Turkish rule there. The Revolt was supported by the ruling dynastic house of the monarchy in Hejaz, the House of Hashem, that wanted to expand their influence in the Arab world and were supported by Britain and France that sought to weaken Turkey in the war and legitimize British and French intervention in the Middle East. No single Hashemite state over both Hejaz and all or most of the Fertile Crescent was permitted even though the Hashemites wanted this and instead several Hashemite kingdoms were created with Hejaz outside of the Mandates of Britain in Palestine (including what is now Jordan) and Iraq while France took Syria and Lebanon though after a brief struggle with the Hashemites that wanted to create a Hashemite monarchy over the whole of the Levant that would be Syria. In the end three Hashemite kingdoms were created in the Middle East.

Note: I use a standard palette of shades of colours for the flag designs. Contrary to the images of flags depicted on Wikipedia, I do not follow the "official" shades of colours claimed by governments as well as alternate history flags based on flags of existing countries. The problem is that it commonly results in bizarre shading of a flag if they are taken literally - in practice such "official" colour shades are almost never applied and standard reds, blues, etc, are used.
